Prof. WITOLD MACIEJ ORŁOWSKI

Professor Witold Orłowski is the PwC Chief Economic Adviser in Poland. In 2011 Professor Orłowski was appointed Special Adviser to the European Commission on budget. In 2007 Professor Orłowski was awarded an academic title of Professor of Economics granted by the President of the Republic of Poland. In 2002-2005 he held the post of Head of Economic Advisory Council to the President of the Republic of Poland. Professor Orłowski graduated in Economics from the University of Lodz and Harvard University. He received his doctoral habilitation from the University of Warsaw, presenting a book titled The Road to Europe: Macroeconomics of the EU Accession which became the best book in the field of the theory of economics and finances according to Bank Handlowy in 1998. After the period of academic work, in 1991-1993, he was employed in the Bureau for European Integration, participating in negotiations on the association agreement between Poland and the European Union. In 1993-1997 he was working in the World Bank, in the department for Central Europe where he was comparing the paths of transformation and European integration in the countries of the region. In the following years Professor was an adviser to government institutions: Member of the Macro-economic Policy Committee at the Polish Ministry of Finance, adviser to Leszek Balcerowicz – former Deputy Prime Minister, advisor to the Minister of Economy and to Chief Negotiator for the Accession to the European Union. He was advising business and international organisations as well. In 1997 Professor Orłowski cofounded the Independent Center for Economic Studies (NOBE). He held the post of Director of the Research Centre for Economic and Statistical Studies of the Central Statistical Office and the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS). Professor Orłowski performs the function of Secretary of the Scientific Council of the Polish Economic Society, Member of the PAS Committee on Economic Sciences and the PAS “Poland 2000 Plus” Forecast Committee. Apart from macroeconomics and the integration theory, Professor Orłowski looks into economic modeling, economic forecasting and simulation calculations. He is an author of many books, author or co-author of more than 180 academic publications (published in Poland, USA, United Kingdom, France, Austria and Germany), author of more than 50 publications in the Polish press and co-author of 4 World Bank reports.

Prof. RENATA MARCINIAK

She is a professor accredited by The National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation of Spain (ANECA) and by Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency, AQU Catalunya. She holds a PhD in Economics and Management from the University of Economics in Cracow (Poland). She also holds a PhD in Education with the International Doctoral Research Component and Special Award for Doctoral Studies from the Autonomus University of Barcelona (UAB) from which she also holds a master’s degree in Research in Education. Moreover, she holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master`s degree in Company Organization and Management and a Postgraduate degree in Specialist in Virtual Learning Environments from the Virtual Educa Teacher Training Institute (Argentina). She has an extensive experience in face-to-face and online higher education at Polish, Mexican and Spanish universities. Her work experience also includes management in small and medium enterprises and management tasks in different public organizations in Poland. Currently, she is a professor at the Euncet University Business School in Terrassa (Spain) and Faculty of Social Sciences at Manresa. Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya, based in Spain, specialized in commerce and retail, attached to the University of Barcelona. She is the author of several books about e-learning and business management. She has also published a number of articles in high impact journals (including JCR - Journal Citation Reports) about these topics. She is also the co-author of Polish Standards for Online Learning Services. As an expert, she participated in many international projects related to the improvement of the quality of higher online education and business strategy development. She participated as a keynote speaker and speaker in several international congresses and conferences in such countries as: Poland, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Spain, France, Portugal, Belgium, Czechoslovakia. She has also been a reviewer for many years in several high impact international journals, such as: International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IRRODL), Revista Electrónica de Investigación Educativa (REDIE), Revista Iberoamericana para la Investigación y el Desarrollo Educativo (REIED), Australian Health Review. She is a member of scientific international associations and organizations. Her research interests include management in digital education, e-learning technologies, quality of online higher education, and using of Information and Communication Technologies in company management.

PAWEŁ URBAŃSKI, PhD

Through much of his career combined business experience with academia. He holds PhD in Economics from Imperial College London and MBA and Engineering degree from Warsaw University of Technology. He was a lecturer and currently is Director of the Business School at Warsaw University of Technology.
Pawel is co-founder of INVEN Group, a company which invests in and develops power projects. He is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Columbus Energy, a leading provider of the residential photovoltaic installations in Poland. Between 2006-2008 he was Board Member of Polish Grid Company (PSE) and CEO of the Polish Energy Group (PGE). Before PGE he was Partner in consultancy Central Europe Trust, where he completed number of advisory projects for the top international and Polish companies from the energy sector.

Prof. ALASTAIR NICHOLSON

Prof, Nicholson (BSc Ph.D.) is a consultant specializing in managing business operations: mergers, new product development, core process identification, strategic initiative, work in Poland and Russia on business development in emerging markets. Prof. Nicholson taught courses in Poland, Ukraine, KMBS and IIB (Kiev) and Canada. He researched Business Practices in Russia, Poland and Ukraine, analysed Businesses in the USA, France, Hong Kong for purposes of improvement; was writing cases on East European Business; and attended international conferences. Prof. Nicholson has worked in more than 200 companies on direct consulting and IT implementation. These companies include manufacturing steel, textiles, and electronics earlier and more recently call phones and public sector activities.
Specific work is now being done on extended projects in North of UK on cost reduction schemes, new product development and employee development.
